You will need a glycerin soap base, a mixing bowl, food processor, soap molds and some cooking oil. You will also need an assortment of herbs such as mint, basil, rosemary, etc. and a lemon.


Melt The Soap Base:

Melt the glycerin soap base using a double boiler or a microwave. If you do not have a double boiler, take the soap base in a small vessel and place it over a vessel containing boiling water. If you are using the microwave, place the soap in a bowl and place it in the microwave for 30 second intervals until the soap melts.

Prepare The Ingredients:

Grind the herbs using the food processor and squeeze out the water from the puree using a filter. Zest the lemon peel using a vegetable peeler. This can be done by rubbing the lemon skin in one direction against the peeler.

Add The Herbs And Lemon Zest:

Set the melted glycerin soap base aside for a few minutes. Now, add the herbs and lemon zest to the soap base and stir well. This will ensure that the herbs do not float to the bottom of the soap but are evenly distributed. If you let the soap base to sit for a long time it will harden again. In that case, you will have to melt it again.

Molding The Soap:

Now take the soap molds and apply a thin layer of oil to the bottom. This will make it easy for you to pop the soaps out. Now, carefully pour the prepared soap base into the molds and let it sit for about an hour. Place the molds in the freezer for another hour or so. Take the molds from the freezer and press to release the soap. That’s it your handmade herbal soap is ready.
